I am running the Covered Bridges Half Marathon on June 2nd, 2019, with my wife Liz to raise money for the Family Place, a fantastic Parent Child Center in Norwich, Vermont that provides child care, early intervention, family counseling, social resource connections, and parent-child education to families from across rural northern Vermont. They serve nearly 2000 kids from over 1000 families in need every year, and a significant portion of their operating funds come from money raised through the Covered Bridges Half Marathon.

In these days of rising economic inequality and polarizing politics, it is often difficult to know how to try to reverse these deep structural trends. One thing you CAN DO is to contribute to organizations like the Family Place that make it their mission to help families most in need in rural communities that are too often forgotten and overlooked. 

Last year Liz and I ran the race together and it was an amazing experience. We got to know the incredible folks who run the Family Place, and are even more excited this year to run to raise funds and awareness for the great work that they do. While Liz's broken toe will prevent her from running this year, we are both going up together again to support the Family Place.

We are a team of runners supporting The Family Place in its 33rd year of providing education, support and services to Upper Valley children and families.

Our team members have committed to raising at least $500 each by running in the Covered Bridges Half Marathon on Sunday, June 3, 2019. Money from fundraisers like the Covered Bridges Half Marathon is vital to The Family Place because it isn't earmarked for any specific program; instead it can be applied to wherever the need is greatest. It's only with the support of our generous community that we can provide continuous, comprehensive services to every family!
